Pokhara, 4 August । The George John Educational Foundation celebrated its 29th anniversary by honoring five individuals for their significant contributions to the education sector. The award ceremony, held on Saturday in Pokhara, was graced by the Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Surendra Raj Pandey, who presented the recipients with a letter of appreciation, a shawl, and a cash prize. The honorees were Narendraman Lalchan, Chairman of the Pokhara Multiple Campus Management Committee; Prof. Dr. Lekhnath Bhattarai and Prof. Dr. Yadav Gaudel of Prithvi Narayan Campus; educationist Chhavilal Acharya; and health worker Shakun Singh.
During the event, Chief Minister Pandey emphasized that individuals dedicated to the field of education are a source of inspiration for the entire community. Dr. George John, the founder of the foundation, reiterated that the development of the education sector is the cornerstone of overall national progress. The ceremony also recognized and rewarded outstanding students from Prithvi Narayan Campus. Kriti Bhattarai from the Science faculty, Bijay Subedi from Management, Vivek Tiwari from Humanities, and Amrit Paudel from the Education faculty were awarded for their excellent academic achievements.
Established by Prof. Dr. George John and Dr. Eliyama John, the foundation has been working for the educational development of Pokhara for the past three decades. Its mission includes honoring contributors to education, enhancing student capabilities, and providing scholarships to deserving and economically disadvantaged students, thereby fostering a culture of academic excellence and social responsibility.
