Pokhara, 5 October | Stranded passengers across various parts of Chitwan district, whose journeys have been halted due to the continuous rainfall and resulting road closures, will receive a 75% discount on room tariffs at local hotels and lodges. The decision was made at a meeting held at the District Administration Office on Saturday, which included all relevant stakeholders. Chief District Officer (CDO) Ganesh Aryal confirmed the agreement, stating that the substantial discount will be applied to the room charges of all types of hotels throughout the district for travelers who have entered Chitwan but cannot proceed to their destinations due to the halted traffic.
CDO Aryal added that the Hotel Association Chitwan and the District Police Office will monitor the situation to ensure the decision is properly implemented. Loknath Bhatta (Krishna), President of the Hotel Entrepreneurs Association, informed the public that stranded passengers can contact him at 9855014180 to avail the discount. He further committed that based on their circumstances, some individuals may be offered free accommodation. Subash Chandra Gautam, Vice-President of the Regional Hotel Association Sauraha, noted that his private hotel would provide free daily service to 40 stranded guests, while others would receive the mandatory 75% discount. Passengers stuck in areas like Muglin, Narayangadh, Bharatpur, Tandi, and Parsa can coordinate with the police to access this discounted accommodation.
