Pokhara, 5 November. The Special Court today, Wednesday, filed a formal police complaint at the Kathmandu District Police Range regarding the damage caused by vandalism and arson during the recent ‘Gen Z’ protests. According to Police Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, the court filed the complaint asserting that its property sustained damage during the protests that took place on Bhadra 23 and 24 (September 9 and 10).
The complaint demands that the individuals involved in the vandalism and arson be identified and prosecuted, and that the cost of the damage (‘Bigo’ – compensation) be recovered from them. The Special Court’s move follows similar complaints lodged by the Supreme Court, Kathmandu District Court, and the office of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) over the damages they also incurred. With multiple government bodies formally seeking action, the police have intensified efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the destruction.
