Pokhara, 7 December| A tragic incident near the southern coast of Greece’s Crete island saw 18 migrants found dead inside a boat, while two others were successfully rescued. According to Greece’s public broadcaster ERT, the boat was discovered approximately 48 kilometers south of the city of Ierapetra, with all 18 deceased bodies found within the vessel.

The two rescued individuals informed authorities that they had struggled for hours in severe weather conditions without finding a safe haven. Initial reports suggest that the deaths may have been caused by prolonged exposure to the elements in the open boat, lack of food, and the effects of extreme cold. The Greek Coast Guard indicated that the victims had been dead for over a day before the boat was located. Greek authorities have launched an investigation into the unfortunate incident.
