Pokhara, 7 March| Candidates from the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) have secured the leading positions in both electoral constituencies of the Ilam district as the vote counting for the parliamentary elections continues to progress. According to the latest data from the counting centers, CPN-UML’s Kaji Man Kagate has taken the lead in Ilam-1, while Suhang Nembang is maintaining a steady front in Ilam-2. The electoral atmosphere in the district has become increasingly charged as the margins between the top contenders fluctuate with each passing round of counting.

In Ilam-1, Kaji Man Kagate is currently at the forefront with a total of 2,803 votes. He is being closely pursued by Niskal Rai of the Nepali Congress, who has garnered 2,589 votes so far. Interestingly, Binod Nembang Limbu of the Shram Sanskriti Party, who had initially taken an early lead during the start of the count, has now slipped to the third position with 2,546 votes. The competition remains tight as the gap between the top three candidates is relatively narrow. Meanwhile, Bimal Gadal from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) stands in fourth place with 1,244 votes, and Ran Bahadur Rai of the Nepali Communist Party is in fifth with 969 votes.

In Ilam-2, the situation appears more decisive for the CPN-UML. Suhang Nembang is leading the race with a significant tally of 12,574 votes. His closest rival, Sudip Rai of the Shram Sanskriti Party, is trailing behind with 10,836 votes. The Nepali Congress candidate, Bheshraj Acharya, finds himself in the third spot with 6,871 votes, while Gokul Bahadur Rai of the Rastriya Swatantra Party has secured 3,451 votes. As the counting enters more critical phases, the district’s political landscape remains focused on whether the UML can sustain this momentum to secure both seats.
