Pokhara, 19 March| Iran’s military chief Amir Hatami has issued a strong warning of retaliation following the killing of senior official Ali Larijani in an اسرائیली airstrike. The attack, which reportedly took place on Tuesday, resulted in the death of Larijani, who served as the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, along with several others. The development has heightened tensions in the Middle East, raising concerns over a possible escalation.

In a public statement, Hatami declared that Iran would respond at a “time and place of its choosing,” promising a decisive and memorable retaliation against what he described as “criminal actions” by the United States and Israel. He referred to Israel as a “bloodthirsty Zionist regime” and emphasized that the response would serve as a lesson, suggesting a carefully calculated military reaction.

Iran officially confirmed Larijani’s death on Tuesday, following earlier claims by Israel that he had been killed in the airstrike. In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that missile strikes had already been launched toward central Israel as part of initial retaliation efforts. However, details regarding the extent of damage or casualties from these strikes have not been fully disclosed. The IRGC, which operates as a separate and powerful military entity alongside Iran’s regular armed forces, described the action as part of a broader response strategy.

Observers note that the killing of such a high-ranking official could significantly escalate the long-standing conflict between Iran and Israel. Retaliatory measures from Iran, particularly missile strikes, increase the risk of direct confrontation between the two nations. The situation remains volatile, with both sides appearing prepared for further military engagement.

The incident has drawn international attention, as global powers closely monitor the developments. With tensions already high in the region, analysts warn that continued escalation could undermine stability and complicate diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation. The coming days are expected to be critical in determining whether the situation intensifies into a broader conflict or moves toward restraint.
