Pokhara, 16 September | Gokarna Karki, former president of the Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a member of the Executive Committee of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), has been appointed as a member of the federation’s Tax and Revenue Committee.
FNCCI President Anjan Shrestha formally handed Karki the appointment letter, confirming his membership of the committee. The committee has been formed under the chairmanship of FNCCI Executive Committee Member Arniko Rajbhandari.
According to FNCCI, the committee has been established to contribute to making Nepal’s tax system more business-friendly, present clear positions from the private sector on revenue policies and address tax-related concerns faced by entrepreneurs and businesspeople through constructive policy engagement. The committee is expected to serve as an important platform for discussing taxation and revenue issues affecting the country’s business community.
FNCCI said Karki’s professional experience and expertise are expected to contribute to efforts related to the formulation and improvement of national economic and revenue policies. His experience as a former president of the Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry and as a member of FNCCI’s Executive Committee is expected to strengthen the private sector’s perspective in policy discussions.
Through the committee, FNCCI aims to facilitate a more effective institutional dialogue between the private sector and the government on taxation, revenue policy and related business concerns. Karki’s appointment is therefore expected to support the committee’s work in identifying practical tax-related challenges and contributing constructive recommendations to ongoing policy discussions.
