Pokhara, 8 September | Man Kaji Gurung has been unanimously elected President of National PABSON Kaski following the organisation’s Ninth District Convention and 18th Annual General Meeting held on Sunday. The convention selected a new executive committee unanimously while also highlighting major issues related to institutional education, educational quality and the future direction of Nepal’s school system.
Prem Raj Adhikari was elected Senior Vice President, while Raju KC became Vice President. Shiva Raj Poudel was elected Secretary, Raju Kayastha Treasurer, Ramesh Raj Poudel Joint Secretary and Arjun Prasad Adhikari Joint Treasurer. Similarly, Arjun Prasad Pandey, Gyanendra Bahadur Thapa, Tolakant Nyaupane, Dipu Bhari, Rudra Prasad Adhikari, Dev Chhetri and Madhav Sharan Poudel were unanimously elected as members of the new committee. Somnath Poudel will serve as an ex-officio member representing Machhapuchchhre Rural Municipality, while Hem Ranabhat has been nominated as a committee member.
Inaugurating the programme, Gandaki Province Minister for Social Development, Youth and Sports Rekha Gurung said the provincial government has given priority to technology-friendly, skill-based and vocational education. She said Nepal would not achieve the desired level of educational progress without moving forward with education that responds to the changing demands of the modern era. She also stressed the importance of unity, cooperation and coordination among all stakeholders working in the education sector.
Minister Gurung said the contribution of institutional schools to improving the quality of education could not be ignored. She assured that the doors of the provincial government would remain open to address and facilitate the concerns of institutional schools.
National PABSON Central President Subash Nyaupane said it was impossible to imagine Nepal’s education sector without the participation of institutional schools. Referring to recent data showing that institutional schools contribute around 38 percent to the education sector, he said laws and regulations introduced by ignoring such a significant sector would not be acceptable to institutional schools.
Gandaki Province Press Registrar Bimala Bhandari emphasised the need to connect education with modern technology. Ghanshyam Poudel, Director of the Education Development Division, said the education sector could make significant progress if institutional and community schools shared their successful practices with one another. Subash Pant, head of the Provincial Examination Management Office of the National Examination Board, said students would face fewer difficulties in examinations if classroom teaching was effectively conducted according to the curriculum prescribed by the Government of Nepal.
The programme was attended by representatives from educational, social and professional organisations. Various speakers praised the activities and contribution of National PABSON Kaski while stressing the need for continued cooperation and quality improvement in institutional education.
