Pokhara, 9 September | Following the tragic deaths of 19 people during the Gen-Z youth protests, the CPN (Maoist Centre) has called a joint meeting of opposition parties. The meeting, convened by Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, is scheduled to take place today at 8:30 AM at the Maoist parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar. Leaders have stated that the meeting will focus on the country’s current situation, the Gen-Z youth movement, and future programs for the opposition parties. The Maoist Centre’s politburo meeting yesterday decided to declare all 19 who were killed as martyrs and to demand the resignation of Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli.
The party also decided to organize nationwide protests against the government. However, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), which is also an opposition party, has announced that it will not participate in the meeting. RSP spokesperson Manish Jha stated that their priority in this grave and unusual situation is to hold meaningful internal discussions within their own party, rather than attending the meeting called by Prachanda. This decision indicates a lack of coordination among the opposition forces.
