Pokhara, 9 March| AC Milan has reignited the Serie A title race after securing a crucial 1-0 victory over league leaders Inter Milan in the Derby della Madonnina at the San Siro on Sunday. The decisive moment of the high-stakes encounter came in the 35th minute when left-back Pervis Estupiñán scored his first goal for the club, smashing the ball into the top corner. This result marks the first time since 2011 that AC Milan has completed a Serie A ‘league double’ over their fierce city rivals, having also won their first meeting back in November.

For Inter, the defeat serves as a significant setback in their Scudetto aspirations. A victory would have extended their lead at the top of the table to an almost insurmountable 13 points with only ten matches remaining in the season. Instead, AC Milan’s disciplined defensive display and tactical organization kept the Nerazzurri at bay, cutting the gap to seven points. While Inter remains in first place with 67 points from 28 matches, AC Milan now sits closely behind with 60 points. The win has injected fresh uncertainty into the final phase of the season, as Milan’s unbeaten run in the derby continues and the title race remains wide open as the league approaches its decisive conclusion.
