Pokhara, 11 April | Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Manish Jha has emphasized the critical importance of strengthening the private sector to ensure sustainable economic growth in Nepal. He stated that without a robust private sector, the country’s economy cannot achieve stability or long-term development.

Addressing the third national convention of the National Enterprise Development Facilitators Federation Nepal in the capital on Saturday, Jha highlighted the fundamental structure of an economy and the role played by different sectors. According to him, every economy operates on three main pillars: the private sector, the government sector, and the development economy. However, he stressed that the private sector remains the most influential component in driving economic progress.

Jha explained that a strong private sector contributes significantly to job creation, innovation, and increased productivity. He noted that while government policies and development support systems are important for stability, they cannot replace the dynamic role of private enterprise in generating growth.

To support his argument, Jha presented international data, referring to figures from 2026. He stated that the private sector economy of the United States is valued at approximately NPR 46,500 trillion, while China’s private sector stands at around NPR 30,000 trillion. These figures, he argued, clearly demonstrate the central role of private capital in building strong and resilient economies.

Jha further pointed out that Nepal must create a favorable environment for private investment by implementing business-friendly policies and encouraging entrepreneurship. He emphasized the need for closer collaboration between the government and the private sector to unlock economic potential and accelerate development.

Concluding his remarks, Jha reiterated that prioritizing the growth of the private sector is essential for Nepal’s economic transformation and long-term prosperity.
