Pokhara, 6 September | Two bodies have been recovered from inside the tunnel of the Upper Trishuli Hydropower Project-1 in Rasuwa. The project’s Chief Executive Officer, Giriraj Adhikari, confirmed on Sunday that the bodies were found in the inner section of the tunnel, although their identities have not yet been established.
The discovery comes a day after a Chinese national was rescued alive from the same tunnel. According to officials, the survivor was rescued from approximately 225 metres inside the tunnel.
Search and rescue operations are continuing inside the tunnel amid concerns that other people may still be missing. The incident follows the devastating flood that struck the Bhotekoshi River on Bhadra 10. Sunday marked the twelfth day since the disaster, with authorities continuing search efforts and further investigations into the bodies recovered from the hydropower project tunnel.
