Pokhara, 28 January | The principal photography of the upcoming Nepali feature film ‘Pension Patta,’ directed by acclaimed character actor Maotse Gurung, has officially concluded. The 33-day filming schedule ended with an ‘end-clap’ at a resort in Kaski district. Director Gurung, who also serves as the writer and one of the investors under the banner of Maotse Gurung Films, announced that the project will now move into the post-production phase. Emphasizing his dedication to quality, Gurung stated that the production team would proceed without haste to ensure a high-standard cinematic experience for the audience, noting that the release date will be finalized only after the technical work is complete.
Although the title ‘Pension Patta’ hints at the life of an ex-soldier, the director clarified that the core plot follows the spiritual and behavioral transformation of a greedy young man into a generous individual. The film boasts a stellar ensemble cast featuring prominent stars like Dayahang Rai, Sunil Thapa, Pashupati Rai, Gaumaya Gurung, Buddhi Tamang, and Wilson Bikram Rai. Other notable actors include Raj Thapa Kaucha, Lunibha Tuladhar, Bishwas Gurung, Maya Gurung, and Yassili Rai. This is the second mainstream Nepali feature film directed by Gurung, following his commercially successful directorial debut ‘Dayarani,’ which has generated significant buzz among critics and cinephiles alike.
The technical strength of the film is supported by cinematographer Sushan Prajapati and casting director Suraj Tamu. The musical score is being composed by Jhuma Limbu, Manoj Thapa Magar, and Shiva Baraili. Funded by investors Min Konme Gurung, Bhoj Bahadur Gurung, and Sapana Gurung, the film’s production is managed by DB Gurung. Most of the filming took place in the culturally rich Tangting village of Kaski, known for its natural beauty and traditional lifestyle. As the film transitions from the sets to the editing table, fans are eagerly waiting to see how Maotse Gurung portrays social realities and human emotions through this much-anticipated project.
