Pokhara, 6 June: President Ramchandra Paudel has emphasized the importance of aligning Nepal’s education system with the goals of increasing domestic production, generating employment opportunities, and strengthening national unity by fostering a culture that respects labor and nurtures skilled and disciplined citizens. Addressing a ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of Nepal Adarsha Secondary School on Friday, President Paudel stressed that modern education must meet the demands of the information age and support the nation’s aspiration for accelerated development.

Speaking at the event, President Paudel highlighted that Nepal has entered a path of rapid development following its adoption of a federal democratic republican system. He stated that in today’s modern era shaped by advances in information technology, it is essential to provide an education that contributes to enhanced productivity, job creation, and infrastructure development to meet the expectations of the Nepali people.

He underlined the importance of introducing modern, relevant curricula from the school level that utilize contemporary technologies and focus on producing a capable workforce. He called on the government and all stakeholders in the education sector to ensure the delivery of quality, technical, and competitive education to prepare future generations to stand as capable and competent individuals.

President Paudel also pointed out the growing trend of students going abroad for studies and stressed the need to reverse this by developing a skilled workforce tailored to the domestic job market. He reiterated that education plays a vital role not only in knowledge, awareness, and social transformation but also in laying the foundation for a civilized, modern society and the nation’s overall development.

Reflecting on the history of Nepal Adarsha School, the President remarked that its establishment during the autocratic Rana regime, when education was deliberately withheld from the people, was a historic event. He added that the school’s founding vision—to nurture hardworking students devoted to the nation—continues to be reflected in its name and mission.

On the occasion, President Paudel honored several distinguished alumni of the school, including Supreme Court Justice Sapana Malla Pradhan and Nepal Bar Association President Bijaya Prasad Mishra, among others who have made notable contributions to the institution.
