Pokhara, 6 June — Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa has stressed the need for a serious assessment of the current government’s performance, expressing dissatisfaction over its failure to meet public expectations. Speaking to the media at Biratnagar Airport on Friday, Thapa said that the coalition government formed by the two major political parties has not delivered the desired outcomes.
Thapa emphasized that the Nepali Congress Central Working Committee will soon hold a meeting to make concrete decisions aimed at improving the government’s effectiveness. He underscored that a strategic course correction is necessary if the government is to regain public trust and meet its commitments.
Addressing the ongoing controversy surrounding the Patanjali land dispute, Thapa stated that there is no alternative but to wait for the verdict of the judiciary. He maintained that since the constitutional bodies have registered the case in accordance with the law and the matter is now under judicial review, it is essential to place trust in the court’s decision.
Furthermore, Thapa criticized the delay in forming the constitutional amendment committee, which had been agreed upon during the formation of the current government. He urged that the committee be formed without further delay so that the agenda of constitutional amendment can be finalized and taken forward through the due process.
Thapa also confirmed that the party is actively working on issues such as membership updates and internal reforms, with the aim of conducting its General Convention in Mangsir, 2083 B.S. (late 2026 A.D.).
