Pokhara, 8 September | The International IT Workshop jointly organized by Deep IT and Educational Consultancy, Deep Computer Institute, and Capital Education and Migration has been successfully concluded in both Pokhara and Kathmandu. Sponsored by Ajeenkya DY Patil University and Veloces Consulting Services (India), and held in collaboration with the world-renowned technology company Microsoft, the program offered students direct training on cutting-edge topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR), Machine Learning, Augmented Reality (AR), and Cybersecurity.
The first phase of the workshop took place at Pokhara Event Center on September 2 and 3 (Bhadra 17 and 18), while the second phase was conducted at Diyalo Mahal, Kathmandu, on September 5 and 6 (Bhadra 20 and 21). According to the CEO and program coordinator, Dinesh Lamichhane, more than 700 students enthusiastically participated in both cities. Over 200 students joined the first day in Pokhara, and the number grew even higher in the following sessions.
Referring to the World Economic Forum’s “Future of Jobs 2023” report, the organizers highlighted how traditional professions are projected to decline in the coming years due to technological disruption, while new opportunities will rapidly grow in AI, Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Data Science, and Business Intelligence. In this context, the workshop aimed to equip Nepali students with international-level knowledge and practical skills.
Participating students were introduced to Microsoft’s initiative “Empower Your Career in AI with Microsoft,” which included detailed information on undergraduate programs such as B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering on Virtual & Augmented Reality and B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering on Cyber Forensics & Information Security. They also received direct counseling on immersive technologies, data science, internships, scholarships, and international career opportunities.
According to Lamichhane, such initiatives not only guide students towards future-ready skills but also build a foundation for competing globally. He announced that more programs will follow soon, including the ICT Junior Nepal Championship, Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Nepal Championship, Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) Nepal Championship, and Microsoft AI Hackathon.
The ICT Junior Nepal Championship, he explained, is a national-level competition focused on digital literacy for students aged 9 to 16. It prepares them for the MOS World Championship at the international stage. Deep IT and Educational Consultancy holds the rights to organize the Nepal round of the MOS World Championship, which evaluates students in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, offering winners the chance to represent Nepal at the global finals in the United States.
Similarly, the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) World Championship has been held in Nepal, testing students’ creative design skills through Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. National winners receive medals, certificates, and the chance to compete globally.
Lamichhane also shared details about the recently launched Microsoft AI Hackathon, which challenges participants to develop creative and impactful solutions using Artificial Intelligence. He emphasized, “AI is the skill of the future, and such competitions empower students, developers, and innovators to think globally and build solutions that matter.”
He concluded by stating that these workshops and competitions, organized by Deep IT and Educational Consultancy in partnership with Deep Computer Institute, will not only enhance Nepali students’ global competitiveness but also contribute significantly to shaping the future of Nepal’s technology sector.
