Pokhara, 9 September | Over 400 young individuals from the Gen-Z generation who were injured by police gunfire during protests are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals across the country. According to hospital sources, the condition of 11 of the injured admitted to the Trauma Center remains critical. The hospital’s head, Dr. Badri Rizal, stated that five of the critically injured patients are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Dr. Rizal informed Onlinekhabar that more than 30 of the injured will require surgery. In response to the crisis, the hospital has suspended its outpatient department (OPD) and all regular surgeries on Tuesday to prioritize the treatment of the protest casualties. “We have arranged for surgeries only for those injured in yesterday’s protest and other emergency cases,” Dr. Rizal said, adding that all hospital staff have been mobilized. Eleven people underwent surgery overnight in an effort to save their lives. According to Dr. Rizal, surgeries for patients with bullet wounds and other injuries will continue throughout the day. The sheer number of casualties has placed significant pressure on the healthcare system.
