Pokhara, 9 September | Gen-Z protesters, angered by the social media ban, have set fire to the house of Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa in Ratopul. The protesters, enraged by the police crackdown that killed at least 19 people on Monday, set fire to a vehicle at Thapa’s residence.
This incident clearly indicates that the anger of the young generation has been directed toward the leaders of major political parties. Following the government’s violent suppression of protests against the social media ban and corruption, top leaders have become targets. Such violent acts suggest that the country’s political situation is becoming increasingly volatile.
