Pokhara, 9 September | The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to have all its Members of Parliament (MPs) resign. An MP informed Onlinekhabar that this decision is to be finalized during the party’s parliamentary meeting. The move comes in response to the escalating situation, where 19 people died from police gunfire during the Gen-Z youth protests.
Party president Rabi Lamichhane had already instructed his MPs on Monday evening to be prepared to resign if their demands were not addressed. RSP has 21 MPs in the House of Representatives, one of whom, Asim Shah, has already announced his resignation. The nationwide protests against the social media ban and government mismanagement have been ongoing, and the RSP has shown solidarity with the movement.
