Pokhara, 9 September | Anti-government protests have turned violent nationwide, with arson and vandalism reported at the private residences of major political leaders and party offices. The situation has gone beyond the control of security personnel in several sensitive areas across the country. The residences of President Ramchandra Paudel, Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, and former prime ministers Sher Bahadur Deuba and Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ have been targeted and damaged.
Protesters set fire to the private residences of President Ramchandra Paudel in Boharatar and Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli in Balkot. Similarly, former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha was set on fire, and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’s’ residence in Khumaltar was vandalized. Additionally, attacks have been reported at the homes of Foreign Minister Arzu Deuba in Dhangadhi, Communications Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung in Sunakothi, Energy Minister Deepak Khadka in Budhanilkantha, Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa in Ratopul, and UML leaders Raghuveer Mahaseth and Surendra Pandey. Security forces are currently working to move leaders to safe locations.
