Pokhara, 9 September | Tribhuvan International Airport has been completely shut down due to ongoing political instability and escalating security threats. According to a high-ranking official from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, the decision was made in response to continuous fires in areas like Gothatar and other circumstances that have made the air security environment highly unfavorable.
After allowing all flights currently in the sky to land, all remaining flights were canceled and the airport was closed. The airport is currently under the protection of the Nepal Army. This unexpected closure has caused significant disruption to both international and domestic flights, leaving passengers stranded. This action also highlights the grave state of the country. While the measure was taken to maintain peace and ensure the safety of air travelers, its negative impact on travel is widespread.
