Pokhara, 28 November| Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, the coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), stated that the party’s focus remains on achieving broader leftist unity, including potential integration with the CPN-UML. Speaking at a Unity Message Assembly organized by the NCP in Dhangadhi, Sudurpaschim Province, Prachanda announced the formation of the Nepali Communist Party by consolidating more than 15 left-wing factions. He claimed that this unification of over 15 left groups is the first such record in Nepal’s history, emphasizing that revolutionaries across the country are viewing the new party with hope and confidence.

Prachanda stressed that the current level of unity is not enough and that comprehensive left unity is essential for the nation’s defense and fulfilling the aspirations and needs of the people. He explicitly called upon all patriotic, leftist revolutionaries within the CPN-UML to unite under the banner of the Nepali Communist Party. He further clarified that the name ‘Nepali Communist Party’ was chosen to accommodate everyone, ensuring that everyone’s rights and potential can be utilized. He concluded that there is no longer a need to attach “tails” like ‘Maoist,’ ‘Socialist,’ or ‘Centre,’ as they are all now simply ‘Nepali Communists.’
