Pokhara, 7 December| The 27th edition of the Pokhara Street Festival is set to be held in Lakeside, Pokhara, the tourism capital, coinciding with the English New Year celebrations. The organizer, Restaurant and Bar Association Nepal (REBAN) Pokhara, announced at a press conference on Thursday that preparations for the festival, which will run from December 28 to January 1 (Pus 13 to 17), are moving at a rapid pace. The festival will take place along a three-and-a-half-kilometer stretch of Lakeside under the slogan ‘Eat on the Street, Dance on the Street, Enjoy on the Street.’
Bishworaj Poudel, President of REBAN Pokhara, stated that the festival has successfully developed Pokhara as a prime destination for both domestic and foreign tourists for the New Year. Basanta Gautam, the Program Coordinator and Vice President of REBAN Pokhara, informed that the event aims to promote art and culture, assist in marketing locally produced goods, enhance publicity, boost trade, and brand Pokhara. Key attractions will include cultural programs from various ethnic groups, traditional attire and tableau competitions, displays of national and international cuisine, live concerts, and sports events such as boat racing, waiter races, tug-of-war, and momo and sausage eating contests. Furthermore, the festival will feature interactive programs focusing on the development, promotion, opportunities, and challenges of Pokhara’s tourism sector. Gorkha Brewery Pvt. Ltd. is the main sponsor, with the Nepal Tourism Board, Pokhara Metropolitan City, and Gandaki Province Government serving as promoters.
