Pokhara, 7 December| On the first day of registration for the Proportional Representation (PR) system in the upcoming House of Representatives election, 33 political parties submitted their applications. According to Election Commission Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, parties have until December 8 (Mangsir 23) to file their applications for the PR system. The received applications will be reviewed and approved by December 11 (Mangsir 26).
The Election Commission has set the deadline for submitting the closed list of PR candidates for December 28 and 29 (Pus 13 and 14). The preliminary list is scheduled for publication on January 18 (Magh 4), followed by scrutiny of claims and objections, with the final closed list to be published on February 2 (Magh 20). As per existing law, 110 of the 275 members of the House of Representatives will be selected through proportional representation, while 165 members will be selected through the first-past-the-post system. The nomination process for the direct election candidates is set for January 20 (Magh 6).
