Pokhara, 25 December| Senior Chest Specialist Dr. Chandra Prasad Acharya has been appointed as the Director of Pokhara University Teaching Hospital. Dr. Acharya was selected for the prestigious position through an open competition, surpassing six other highly qualified candidates. The Selection and Recommendation Committee, formed to oversee the appointment process, had earlier released a shortlist of seven doctors, from which Dr. Acharya was finalized for the leadership role based on his expertise and professional vision for the hospital.

The list of competitors included Dr. Asim Subedi, Dr. Bigyan Lamichhane, Dr. Deepak Raj Paudel, Dr. Madan Khadka, Dr. Prakash Bhattarai, and Dr. Susmita Kafle. The selection process was led by Prof. Dr. Bishnu Raj Tiwari, the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and coordinator of the recommendation committee. After a rigorous evaluation of the candidates’ academic qualifications, clinical experience, and strategic presentations, the committee recommended Dr. Acharya to the university administration. Dr. Acharya, a resident of Pokhara-21, is well-known in the medical community as a dedicated senior specialist.

In his new role, Dr. Acharya will lead the 100-bed teaching hospital located at Khudi, Dhungepatan, in Pokhara-30. The hospital is currently preparing for full-scale operations to serve as a key practical training center for students under the Faculty of Health Sciences and as a primary healthcare provider for the local community. With the appointment of a seasoned professional like Dr. Acharya, the university aims to enhance the clinical standards and administrative efficiency of the teaching hospital, ensuring it becomes a center of excellence for medical education and public health services in the Gandaki Province.
