Pokhara, 28 January | The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has successfully participated in the “Travel and Adventure Show 2026” held in New York, USA, aiming to further strengthen Nepal’s tourism promotion in the North American market. The international event took place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on January 24 and 25, 2026. Recognizing the United States as a vital source of international visitors, the NTB collaborated with the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) to represent the country and showcase its unparalleled adventure tourism products to global travel professionals and potential tourists.
The United States currently stands as Nepal’s second-largest tourist source market, with a significant arrival of 112,316 American tourists recorded in 2025. This steady growth has prompted the Nepal Tourism Board to intensify its promotional activities across North America. During the two-day exhibition, the Nepal Pavilion drew a large crowd of travel enthusiasts and industry experts who expressed a deep interest in Nepal’s mountaineering and trekking opportunities. The board emphasized Nepal’s identity as a premier adventure destination, focusing on high-altitude expeditions and cultural heritage tours that resonate with the preferences of American travelers seeking transformative and active holiday experiences.
On the opening day of the show, Nepal’s Consul General in New York, Dadhiram Bhandari, visited the Nepal Pavilion and engaged with participating Nepali tourism companies. His presence underscored the diplomatic commitment to boosting tourism ties, specifically focusing on potential collaborations within the eastern coastal states of the US to enhance “Destination Nepal” visibility. Represented by NTB officials Uday Bhattarai and Pradeep Basnet, the participation provided an excellent platform to expand networking with American tour operators and travel agents. The board believes that such strategic engagements in major international travel shows are essential for maintaining the momentum of tourism recovery and ensuring that Nepal remains a top-of-mind destination for adventurous global travelers in the years to come.
