Pokhara, 28 January | In the ongoing 6th Tiger Cup National and International Invitational Club Volleyball Championship at Pokhara Stadium, Gandaki Province secured a commanding straight-set victory over Nepal Police Club. During the final match held on Tuesday, the home team Gandaki outclassed the departmental side with a score of 3-0. Gandaki dominated the match from the beginning, clinching the first set 25-22, the second set 25-20, and the final set comfortably at 25-14. This victory has significantly strengthened Gandaki’s position in the points table as they aim for the prestigious title in front of their home supporters.

In another men’s category match on Tuesday, Parbat District Volleyball Association continued its winning streak by defeating the Maldives Volleyball Association in straight sets. Parbat displayed superior tactical play to win the sets 25-17, 25-18, and 25-16, marking its third consecutive victory in the championship. Conversely, this loss marked the fourth consecutive defeat for the international team from the Maldives. Parbat, having previously defeated strong opponents like Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force (APF), has emerged as one of the favorites to reach the final.

On the women’s side, New Diamond Youth Sports Club secured its spot in the final by thrashing Nepal Police Club in a 3-0 straight-set victory. Meanwhile, Thailand Queens kept their final hopes alive by defeating Tribhuvan Army Club with a matching 3-0 scoreline. Organized by the Tiger Group of Pokhara Nepal, the championship features six men’s and five women’s teams. Following the single round-robin format, the top two teams from each category will compete for the trophy. The women’s final is scheduled for January 30 (Magh 16), while the men’s final will take place on January 31 (Magh 17). Wednesday’s fixtures will see high-stakes matches between APF and Police in the women’s section, and APF against Army in the men’s category.
