Pokhara, 30 January | The Government of Nepal has constituted a high-level organizing committee under the chairmanship of the Minister for Foreign Affairs to prepare for the 12th World Conference of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA). Following a ministerial-level decision, this committee has been tasked with the comprehensive preparation and management of the prestigious global event, which is scheduled to take place in Kathmandu from March 14 to 16, 2026 (Phagun 29 to Chaitra 2, 2082 BS). The formation of this committee highlights the government’s commitment to facilitating a well-coordinated and successful international gathering that serves as a bridge between the Nepali diaspora and their homeland.

The high-level organizing committee comprises distinguished officials from various government bodies and private sector representatives to ensure effective cross-sectoral coordination. Members include a member of the National Planning Commission and secretaries from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Industry, Commerce and Supplies, and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. Furthermore, the CEO of the Investment Board Nepal and joint secretaries from the Diaspora Division and Economic Diplomacy Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are integrated into the team. To bolster the economic agenda of the conference, the presidents of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), and the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) have also been appointed as members.

In a move to reflect the unified leadership of the association, both NRNA Presidents, Dr. Badri KC and Mahesh Kumar Shrestha, along with the organization’s CEO, have been included in the high-level committee. This 12th World Conference is expected to focus on mobilizing the skills, expertise, and financial resources of Non-Resident Nepalis for the socio-economic development of Nepal. The committee will oversee logistics, security, diplomatic protocol, and the overall thematic agenda to ensure that the event meets international standards. With the presence of high-ranking government officials and diaspora leaders, this convention is anticipated to create a significant roadmap for foreign investment and diaspora engagement in the national economy.
