Pokhara, 16 February | In anticipation of the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, the Nepali Congress in Syangja has officially released its comprehensive election manifesto, titled “Sankalpa-Patra.” Candidates Bharatraj Dhakal and Bhagwat Prakash Malla presented the document, outlining a transformative vision to develop Syangja into a model district. Focusing primarily on education, healthcare, agriculture, and tourism, the candidates pledged to address the aspirations of the younger generation while ensuring good governance and a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption. During the unveiling, the leaders emphasized that their developmental promises would transcend mere rhetoric and be implemented through practical actions to uplift the living standards of all residents, bridging the gap between historical ideology and modern economic needs.
The manifesto highlights several high-priority infrastructure projects, most notably the upgrading of the Siddhartha Highway into a dedicated two-lane road and the advancement of the Aadhikhola Multipurpose Power Project for energy and irrigation. In the agricultural sector, the party has committed to implementing a scientific management system for wildlife conflict, specifically monkeys, and introducing a partnership farming model to utilize fallow lands. For tourism, the plan includes developing the Sworek field into an international-standard paragliding training center and connecting religious sites like Satum Chandithan into a tourism circuit. Furthermore, the manifesto promises a primary health clinic with specialists in every ward and a 100% clean drinking water supply through the “One House, One Tap” initiative. A unique highlight of the plan is the proposal to establish a large-scale public company owned by voters to drive major tourism and agricultural ventures. By integrating BP Koirala’s democratic socialist ideals with pragmatic modern solutions, Dhakal and Malla have set a high bar for the district’s economic prosperity, leaving the final verdict to the voters in the upcoming polls.
