Pokhara, 16 February | The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has introduced a revolutionary “Direct Contract with Citizens” ahead of the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5, 2026. Publicly shared by Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane on February 15, the document moves beyond traditional election manifestos, presenting itself as a legally and morally binding agreement between the party and the electorate. The RSP has made a bold declaration: if they secure a single majority and fail to deliver on these specific promises within a five-year term, their representatives will collectively resign from their posts and accept political penalties. Chairman Lamichhane emphasized that while other parties have a history of breaking election vows, the RSP is offering a “Contract of Commitment” to ensure genuine accountability, moving away from rhetoric toward measurable results.

The “Citizen Contract” focuses on five core pillars designed to transform the nation’s socio-economic landscape. The first pillar, “Integrity and Good Governance,” pledges to end partisan exploitation and establish a high-level commission to investigate the assets of public officials who held office since 1990 (2046 BS). Under the second pillar, “Middle-Class Expansion,” the party aims to increase Nepal’s per capita income to $3,000 through quality public health and education reforms. The third pillar, titled “Work, Work, Work,” sets an ambitious target of generating over 5 million jobs within five years by prioritizing the IT, construction, tourism, and agriculture sectors. The fourth pillar, “Connectivity,” focuses on Digital Nepal by aiming to connect 90% of the population to high-speed internet and upgrading strategic road and air networks. Lastly, the “Diaspora” pillar guarantees voting rights for non-resident Nepalis and aims to utilize their expertise for national production. The RSP plans to unveil the comprehensive technical details and implementation strategies of this roadmap on February 19 (Falgun 7) from the Karnali region, signaling a commitment to the country’s most underserved populations.
