Pokhara, 28 January | The ninth edition of the “PEC Tech Expo 2026” commenced on Wednesday at the premises of Pokhara Engineering College (PEC), a pioneer technical institution in the Gandaki region. The two-day technical expo, scheduled for January 28 and 29 (Magh 14-15), aims to bridge the gap between theoretical engineering knowledge and practical application. Students enrolled in various levels ranging from Pre-Diploma and Diploma to Bachelor’s and Master’s programs have showcased over 60 innovative projects, reflecting their creative and technical prowess.
According to Chijkaji Gurung, the College Administration Chief, the expo serves as a platform to foster innovation among students. This year’s event features eight major categories, including the Inter-College Hackathon, Architecture Design Hackathon, IT Project Exhibition, Wall Art Competition, and the popular Popsicle Stick Bridge Design Competition. To encourage competitive excellence, the college has announced substantial cash prizes; for instance, the winner of the IT Hackathon will receive NPR 35,000, while top performers in the Architecture Design Hackathon can win up to NPR 25,000. These competitions are designed to test the students’ problem-solving skills under real-world constraints.
Principal Er. Som Gurung highlighted that departmental project competitions within Civil, Computer, and Architecture departments also carry significant rewards and recognition. The exhibition has attracted a diverse audience, including government officials, industry experts, entrepreneurs, and students from various schools and colleges. As the first private engineering college in the Western region, PEC continues its tradition of biennial exhibitions to promote technical innovation and community engagement. By inviting the general public and industry professionals to witness these student-led innovations, the college hopes to inspire the next generation of engineers and contribute to the nation’s technological advancement.
