Pokhara, 7 August| Manohari Paudel has announced his candidacy for the open Executive Committee Member position in the upcoming election of the Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI). He is seeking election at the 72nd Annual General Meeting and 36th General Convention of the organization, which represents the interests of entrepreneurs and business communities in Pokhara. Voting for the new leadership of the chamber is scheduled to take place on 20 and 21 Bhadra.

Announcing his candidacy, Paudel said he intends to play an active role in strengthening the institution and protecting the interests of industrialists and businesspeople. He said his decision to contest the election is driven by a desire to help create a business-friendly environment and make issues raised by the private sector more effective at the policy and institutional levels.

“My candidacy is aimed at creating a business-friendly environment and making the concerns of the private sector more effective,” Paudel said. He added that the experience he has gained through his involvement in business and the chamber would be used to serve the broader interests of entrepreneurs.

Paudel has been actively involved in the business sector for many years. He is the proprietor of Twins Collection, located at Buddha Bishal Bazaar in Pokhara. He is also serving as vice president of the Buddha Bishal Bazaar Business Association. Through his business and organizational responsibilities, he has gained direct experience of the challenges faced by traders, including market management, business operations and issues affecting the wider commercial sector.

Paudel is currently serving as a nominated member of the Executive Committee of the Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry. During his involvement with the chamber, he has taken responsibility for several organizational activities. He previously served as the publicity and promotion coordinator for the Industrial and Trade Fair organized by the chamber. Businesspeople associated with the organization have appreciated his contribution to promoting the event and helping expand its public reach.

In addition to his involvement in trade fairs, Paudel has contributed to several commodity-based committees of the chamber as a press adviser. His experience in business, communication and organizational activities has enabled him to work closely with entrepreneurs as well as the wider community. He said he intends to use this experience more effectively if elected to the new Executive Committee.

Paudel is also active in social and religious activities. He serves as chairperson of the Trilokeshwor Shiva Temple Service Committee in Pokhara Metropolitan City-28. He is also an adviser to Shital Jyoti Youth Club in Pokhara-12. He is the founding chairperson of Surkemaidan Creative Club in Pokhara-28. Through various social organizations, clubs and community activities, he has remained involved in social service and local initiatives.

He also has experience in journalism and the media sector. Paudel is a council member of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Gandaki Province. He currently works as executive editor at Nepalaya Network. He has said that his experience in journalism will help him advocate for the common concerns of entrepreneurs and bring issues affecting the business community into wider public discussion.

Paudel said his professional leadership, business experience, media background and social involvement would be directed toward strengthening the chamber if he is elected. In his view, the Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry should not only represent businesspeople but should also play an active role in promoting local economic activity, investment, employment generation and the interests of the private sector.

He has emphasized the need for the chamber to become more active and responsive to the practical challenges faced by businesses. Issues such as administrative difficulties, policy-related obstacles, market competition and the need for a supportive business environment, he said, should remain among the organization’s priorities. He also stressed the importance of coordination between the business community, government agencies and other stakeholders.

Paudel has presented his candidacy as an effort to serve the collective interests of entrepreneurs rather than as a personal ambition. He said he would work with experienced business leaders while also ensuring that the concerns and perspectives of younger entrepreneurs receive appropriate attention. According to him, the chamber has an important role in creating opportunities for businesses and strengthening the voice of the private sector.

As the election approaches, preparations for the new leadership of the Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry are gaining momentum. Candidates are increasingly presenting their programmes, experience and priorities to businesspeople. Paudel’s candidacy for the open Executive Committee Member position adds another name to the contest and is expected to contribute to the broader debate over the future direction of the chamber.

Paudel has appealed to entrepreneurs across Pokhara for their support in the upcoming election. He has pledged to work honestly for institutional strengthening, protect the interests of businesspeople and make the chamber more effective in representing the private sector. He also said he would prioritize communication with entrepreneurs and seek practical solutions to the challenges facing businesses.

The election scheduled for 20 and 21 Bhadra will determine the new Executive Committee of the chamber. The new leadership will be responsible for setting priorities for the organization and representing Pokhara’s business community on issues related to commerce, industry, investment and the local economy. Paudel hopes to contribute to that responsibility as an elected Executive Committee Member.
