Pokhara, 21 July: England’s youth team mounted a impressive comeback on Sunday in the second Test against India. Despite an early onslaught from Indian bowlers, which saw England reduced to 46 for four, captain Thomas Rew and Ekansh Singh played crucial half-century knocks to steady the innings. By the end of the first day’s play, England had reached 227 for seven wickets.
Earlier in the innings, openers Ben Dawkins and Adam Thomas both scored half-centuries. In the middle order, Ben Mayes contributed 31 runs, while captain Rew scored 59. Ekansh Singh remained unbeaten on 66. Mayes and Rew forged an important 34-run partnership for the fifth wicket, followed by a substantial 90-run stand between Singh and Rew for the sixth wicket, which helped England recover significantly. For India, Aditya Raut, RS Ambarish, and Naman Pushpak each claimed two wickets.
