Pokhara, 28 January | Tilak Ranabhat, a newly elected Central Committee member of the Nepali Congress, has officially launched his campaign for the House of Representatives from Kaski Constituency No. 1. Born in 1967 in Madi Rural Municipality, Ranabhat holds a Bachelor of Laws (BL) degree and brings a unique blend of bureaucratic, entrepreneurial, and political experience to the race. He briefly served as an officer at the Supreme Court of Nepal before resigning to dedicate himself to business and public service. His current election manifesto centers on comprehensive economic reforms, the creation of a healthy and educated citizenry, and the institutionalization of sustainable development in the Kaski region.

Ranabhat’s political lineage traces back to 1985, when he joined the Nepal Student Union during the restrictive Panchayat era. Despite the risks involved in opposing the autocratic regime, he remained steadfast in building the party’s organizational base. Over the decades, he has served as a convention delegate multiple times and contributed to the party’s Central Finance Committee and Policy and Training Academy. Beyond politics, Ranabhat is a pioneer in the foreign employment sector. Following the vision of the late Girija Prasad Koirala, he founded the Nepal Democratic Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association and later served as the President of the Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Agencies in 2008. He advocates strongly for making foreign employment safer, more dignified, and better regulated for Nepali migrant workers.

With a history of undertaking significant organizational responsibilities, including serving as a central representative in Myagdi during the 2017 elections, Ranabhat is now focusing on his home constituency. As a businessman involved in the garment industry, he currently employs over 60 individuals, proving his commitment to domestic job creation. During his ongoing door-to-door campaign in Kaski-1, he has been emphasizing the need for practical policies that bridge the gap between education and employment. Ranabhat believes that his administrative background at the Supreme Court combined with his extensive experience in the private sector makes him the most capable candidate to represent the diverse needs of Kaski’s residents in the federal parliament.
