Pokhara, 16 February | Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced a revision in the retail prices of petroleum products, effective from midnight yesterday. According to the state-owned utility, the price of petrol has been increased by Re 1 per liter, while the prices of diesel and kerosene have been hiked by Rs 3 per liter. The adjustment follows the latest pricing list received from the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), reflecting the rise in global oil prices. The NOC stated that the periodic revision is necessary to align domestic rates with international procurement costs and maintain the financial health of the corporation.

Following this update, the retail price of petrol has reached Rs 156 per liter in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal (Category C locations). In Category B regions like Surkhet and Dang, the price is now set at Rs 155 per liter. For Category A depots, including Charali, Biratnagar, Amlekhgunj, Bhalbari, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, and Birgunj, petrol will be sold at Rs 153.50 per liter. The sudden hike in diesel and kerosene prices, which are essential for transport and industrial activities, is expected to exert inflationary pressure on essential commodities. The NOC continues to implement its automated pricing mechanism to manage fluctuations in the energy market while ensuring consistent supply across the country.
